Rug Pull Checker: Check Any Token for Rug Pull Risk Before You Buy
A rug pull checker answers one question: can the people behind this token take the money and leave? DeFade answers it for Solana, Ethereum, Base and Robinhood Chain by reading the four ways a token actually rugs, then scoring the result from 0 to 100. Paste the address, no wallet needed, 3 free scans a day.
Check a token for rug pull risk →The four kinds of rug pull, and what catches each
| Type of rug | How it happens | What DeFade reads |
|---|---|---|
| Liquidity pull | The team removes the pool, so there is nothing to sell into. The classic rug. | Who holds the LP tokens, whether they are locked or burned, and how deep the pool is against market cap. |
| Dev dump | Supply the team kept, often spread across "unrelated" wallets, is sold into buyers in one move. | The dev wallet's transfers out, fresh wallets funded from the same source, bundled launch-block buys, insider clusters. |
| Slow rug | No single event. Insiders sell into every rally for days while the chart bleeds. | Top-holder sell pressure over time, deployer history on earlier tokens, the survival tracker's record for this one. |
| Permission abuse | The contract lets the owner mint, freeze, tax or block sells. | Mint and freeze authority on Solana; ownership, upgradability and tax settings on EVM chains. |
Most rug pull checkers cover the last row well and the first row partly. The middle two are where the money is lost today, because launchpads made the contract layer identical for every token. That is the layer DeFade was built for.
What the score means
The rug risk score is one number from 0 to 100. Low means the known patterns are absent; high means several of them are present at once. Underneath it, every module that changed the score is listed with what it found, so a 70 reads as "bundled launch, dev transferred out, one funder behind six top holders" rather than a colour. If you want the definitions, the module reference has all of them; the methodology explains the weights.
The score is evidence, not a verdict. Tokens with good scores still rug, and we wrote up why. What a low score buys you is that the exits that show up on-chain before a rug are not there yet.
How to use the rug pull checker
- Copy the token's contract or mint address. Never search by name: copycat tokens with the same ticker are one of the oldest rugs there is.
- Paste it into the DeFade scanner. Solana base58 addresses and EVM 0x addresses are detected automatically.
- Read the score, then open the modules that raised it.
- Weigh the rug type: an unlocked pool on a token with a real team is a different risk from a locked pool held by a deployer with twenty dead launches.
- If you are still unsure, check the deployer's other tokens and the rug feed for the same wallets.
Rug pull checks by chain
- Solana rug checker: pump.fun bonding curves, Token-2022 extensions, bundles in the launch slot.
- Ethereum and Base rug checker: ownership and upgradability, hidden taxes, LP locks, deployer history across chains.
- Robinhood Chain: a new chain with thin history, and what that does to the checks.
What DeFade does not do: it does not audit source code and it does not simulate transactions to prove a honeypot. It reads on-chain state and wallet behaviour and tells you what it found.

Frequently asked questions
- What is a rug pull?
- A rug pull is when the people behind a token take the money out and leave holders with something they cannot sell for what they paid. It can be sudden, by removing liquidity or dumping a large hidden supply, or slow, by selling into every rally over days. A rug pull checker estimates how likely each of those is before you buy.
- Which chains does the rug pull checker support?
- Solana, Ethereum, Base and Robinhood Chain. Paste the address and the chain is detected from its format; for a 0x address on several chains you can pick the chain.
- Can a rug pull checker tell me a token is safe?
- No. It can tell you the known rug patterns are present or absent. Absent is good, but a project can still fail, get exploited or simply fade. Treat every memecoin position as money you can lose.
- Is a token with locked liquidity safe from a rug pull?
- Locked liquidity removes one exit, the liquidity pull. It does nothing about the dev dumping supply held in other wallets, which is how most launchpad tokens rug today. Check who holds the supply and how those wallets were funded, not only the lock.
